Patience: difficult for most but rewarding in the end. Ever heard a saying “Good things comes to those who wait?” “Slow and steady wins the race”? Well, it is true. Patience is not just a woman’s name; it is a valuable trait to have. One that many lack due to the fast food service we get in the media and society. If you want something, tap a couple of buttons and TADA! You have it. But that is not how things really work.
Effort. Something that is so important now. it is through our efforts that you can differentiate those that are genuine from the dead fishes. It is through effort, respect is given and value is added. Something that is difficult to do when our bare minimum is enough in this world. But, what we reap is what we sow. If we sow half-heartedly, we reap a half-hearted reward.
Patience is most effective with perseverance and a clear focus. When we have a specific goal we want to achieve, all of the tribulations and struggles will be worth it because it all leads to that one goal.
An analogy I will use is a journey. You have a destination in your mind and you are packed and ready for the road trip. Along the way, there might be traffic; an accident and you begin to wonder why did you even decide to do all this? Why bother? But it is when we remember the reason behind the journey, and the destination things will begin to be miniature and irrelevant because we are focused on that destination.
And life is like that. We all have goals and visions for ourselves but many of us are impatient and don’t want to labour along the way. Instead, we would rather teleport ourselves to that destination. But if we do that we will miss the true beauty. And that is in the journey itself. The hurts, heartbreaks, betrayal and doubt we have faced along the way. Knowing how to combat all those negatives and valuing the person we later become as a result of all those unpleasant moments.
So, I will leave you with this. Whatever situation you may be in, it is temporary. The reason it was placed there is for you to learn how to be humble, to appreciate the darkness before handling the light. To understand sadness before you truly know what joy is. There is a reason for everything. And patience and prayer and focus is all that you need. The end of the things is always better than the beginning but it is the journey where true beauty lies.
Patience is more than a woman’s name. It is the diamond we all need in our lives. Thank you.
