WHAT IF WE WERE LIKE CHILDREN?

Just a child’s smile can light up a room. Almost everything about a child is intriguing and one thing I really love doing is observe 2 or more children conversing. We can see nothing but sheer honesty and love exude. Yes, they may fight and make statements like ‘you are not my friend‘ but within some few seconds we see them helping each other.

I never knew I would be very fond of children the way I am and no, I am not a father… at least not yet. I didn’t grow up with any child at home. The age gap between my younger sister and I wasn’t much hence I did not know how interesting children could be apart from the occasional visits of family and friends coming with their kids. Recently, I moved into a family friend’s house. They have 3 children and I have learnt a whole lot from then and then I couldn’t help but ask:

WHAT IF WE WERE LIKE CHILDREN?

Imagine if we loved genuinely the way they did… the one that cut across ethnic ties and religious barriers… Imagine if we were totally honest like they are, how we would be people of integrity… Imagine if we just didn’t forgive but forgot the hurt that people did to us, how there would be no strife… Imagine if we were truthful to each other, imagine how we will be people of honour… Imagine if our hearts, like theirs were pure, how we will easily love…. imagine if our smiles were genuine, how we won’t need to pretend to gain approval… imagine if we were truly happy, there won’t be need for validation from everyone and everywhere… imagine if we truly trusted people, how everyone will be do what he or she ought to do…

Being with children has made me to really think a lot and ponder on Jesus’ words when He rebuked His disciples for trying to stop the little children from coming to Him. He told them that the Kingdom of God is for such as these… and it remains so till date…

LET’S LEARN A THING OR TWO FROM A CHILD IN ORDER TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE…
