Planted in Christ

Psalms 1: 1-3 KJV states:

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditates day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

As I was meditating on it I realised that how and what we are planted in matters a lot. For example, those who are planted in vain success, money and fame are not insecure soil. Their roots can easily wither or be damaged by circumstances that are based around those things. However, those who are planed in God are secure and bring forth fruits in their season. Their leaves will not wither and they shall prosper. I am not sure about you, but that is the tree I want to be. I want to be producing fruits of love, peace and goodness and to prosper as I do it. But it is something that takes time and daily work. That’s why verse 2 states:

his delight is in the law of the Lord; and his law doth he meditate day and night

By regular mediation and seeking God’s word daily, we are rooted in his path, in his ways. This is also confirmed in Proverbs which states that the Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. I believe, there are different levels of wisdom, some that are common and those that come from God and his word. If you compare both, they are different. One is through the help of the Holy Spirit, while the other is through man and knowledge. The wisdom that comes from God stands in the test of time and is pure, undefiled. while the one that comes from man is everchanging. It gets updated but where does the truth really lie?

So through this short muse, I just want you to think about who you are truly planted in and whether you want to prosper or just “survive”.

Thank you for your time,

God bless you
