The title of my message will be Sustaining Confidence in the Lord. I will talk on how we as Child of God can maintain our confidence for the Lord, and how to keep track of our progress in our growth as Christians.
In order for us to grow as believers in Christ, we must first ensure that we let go of anything that may keep us from getting closer to God, after doing this we can start making faith-filled goals to ensure that we are seeing progress on our journey with the Lord.
There are three points I’d like to make on how we can maintain the confidence in our faith walk, these being: Patience, Persistence and Perseverance.
Doubt and impatience may fluid our mind when waiting for the Lord to accomplish a need or make a way for us when we want a change in our lives/situation, but the Bible reassures us by saying in Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (KJV)
As we wait upon the Lord we should continue to speak faith filled confessions, obey His instructions and remain trusting in the Lord to do what He says in His word He will do. It is only by trusting, obeying and seeking God that we can remain/maintain our confidence in God.
In 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 it says We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies. (NLT)
As we move forward in our faith walk, we should be aware that trials, temptations and tribulations may come our way, despite all this, the Lord will always be on our side to fight through them with us, but it comes down to us if we choose to trust and follow the Lord’s guidance.
John 14:12-14 Says, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it! (NLT)
From this scripture, we can deduce that we as Christians, must ensure that we reach new levels in our faith, as Christ desires for us to do even greater works than what He did on the Earth. As you set you have set your faith-filled goals for the week/month/year, make it a point to accomplish it, as in doing so, you can reap the benefits it produces as well as seeing your trust in God grow and in turn, your faith will strengthen.
Romans 5:4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. (NLT).
