Our topic for the week is on Pain and pleasure

Today’s teaching will be on Pain and pleasure and I will be opening the surface of our teaching this week

According to “medical views”
Pain is an unpleasant sensation and emotional experience linked to tissue damage. Its purpose is to allow the body to react and prevent further tissue damage.
We feel pain when a signal is sent through nerve fibres to the brain for interpretation.

The experience of pain is different for everyone, and there are different ways of feeling and describing the pain.

This can make it difficult to define and treat.

Also, it is imperative to know that
” Pain can be short-term or long-term.
it can stay in one place, or it can spread around the body.

Pain as a verb cause mental or physical pain to.

Which mean pain can occur or let’s say we can also create pain

Pleasure on the other hand is
a feeling of being happy, satisfaction and enjoyment.

adjective
used or intended for entertainment rather than business.

What is common to the two phenomenon is they can both be felt by humans giving us the capacity to think that it can be from the sense of touch, sensitivity to or Intuitive understanding.
This is where it gets to apply to our lives as a human. Emotionally, physically and spiritually.

This Topic is so broad that one can decide to view it in broad, lot of ways and have a different understanding to it.

The truth is everyone hates suffering, but the fact is pain changes people. It’s not meant to make us weak it’s to make us stronger.
When Christians go through pain in life it should help us to get back on the path of righteousness. We lose all self-reliance and turn to the only one who can help us.

If you are in Christ, the pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow 👌🏼.
God is healing through the process🙏🏽 and you don’t even know it. It might be hard, but we must find joy in pain.
How do we do that? We must seek Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 That’s why we are not discouraged. No, even if outwardly we are wearing out, inwardly we are being renewed each and every day .

On this topic, I will like to share the mystery of Pleasure and pain.
Yes, it is possible to feel pain and pleasure at almost the same time of our life.

Pleasure and pain, happiness and suffering, are elements of creaturely experience appointed by God. The right use of them makes life, the wrong use of them mars it.
I will like us to look into the story of Job in the Bible.

Job 19vs25
The suffering shows too much for Job, and he turns bitter, anxious, and scared. He deplores the injustice that God lets evil people thrive while he and many other honest people suffer. Job wants to face God and protest, but cannot physically find God. He assumes that wisdom is concealed from humans, but he decides to persevere in seeking wisdom by fearing God and evading evil.
God eventually intervenes, commanding Job to be brave and explains various detailed features of his creation. Overcome by the appearance of God, Job recognizes God’s infinite power and accepts the constraints of his human understanding.

Job in his lifetime once experienced pleasure by being satisfied with what God blessed him with, after a while he was a subject of temptation from Satan and in reverse for him, he was in a lot of distress and pain and lost everything. His Condition was worst that he almost felt, God, abandoned him. He lived through it and never turned against God. He was later healed and all the pain went away after God was pleased with his steadfastness and his holding on.

God then restored Job’s health, granting him with twice as much property as before, new children, and remarkably long life. In the end, Job never completely gave up hope or faith in God as inspiration to everyone enduring suffering of their own.

This teaches us that pain is never constant even if we experience it.

From my own perspective about the whole thing, my growth in Christ and some revelations in the Bible, I have been made to understand that when you are in Christ, Pain is actually what you experience before the great feel of Pleasure, it’s like a signal for blessing and more pleasure which is yet to come.

Pain should never cause you to go astray and quit.

Job 6:10 At least I can take comfort in this: Despite the pain, I have not denied the words of the Holy One.
1 Peter 5:9-10 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Pain should even be a reminder of the promise of God for us all.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Psalm 119:50 My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.

The only pleasure that lasts longer is in Christ, it is eternal.
Psalm 16vs11
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

God warned against liking the pleasure of life too much

Proverb 21vs17:
Whoever loves pleasure will be a poor man; he who loves wine and oil will not be rich.

The pleasure of life is vanity and it is a big Temptation. it is by His grace that we overcome them sometimes.

Ecc 2vs1 I said in my heart, “Come now, I will test you with pleasure; enjoy yourself.” But behold, this also was vanity.

So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

This is as much as I can speak on this topic and I hope we have been blessed with more understanding.
Let us put all we have in Him and together we shall be strengthened in Christ Jesus.
Thank you for your time today.
