Understanding the Mystery Behind Death & Resurrection of Jesus

Written by Chris Olalekan Adedoyin

I will teaching us this afternoon on the topic Understanding the Mystery Behind Death & Resurrection of Jesus

Father in the name of Jesus, we thank you for the grace to witness yet another season that commemorates the death and resurrection of your son. In this festive period, may we discover our root and purpose in life. May our dignity and inheritance in Christ be actualized. Thank you Jesus that it’s done. In Jesus mighty name I have prayed. Amen🙏

The mystery of the death and resurrection of Jesus is the mystery of the kingdom that works like fire. An understanding of this will makes us to command outstanding results in all spheres of lives. Understanding equals outstanding. The mystery of the kingdom is simple because there is simplicity in Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:3 KJV
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Benefits of Death and Resurrection of Jesus

1). Transformation of darkness into light: Death and resurrection of Jesus is the cardinal mark of major transformations in the lives of believers today. It marks the beginning of a new dawn era and cardinal transformations from: evil into good, sin into righteousness, curses into blessings, sickness into health, poverty into prosperity; death turned life; sweat turned sweet; hunger turned satisfaction and shame turned dignity – the list is endless.

Listen: if you are authentically in Christ, beyond any reasonable doubt you are a partaker of these major transformations.

1 John 1:5 KJV
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Exodus 23:25 KJV
And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

Job 36:11 KJV
If they obey and serve him , they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

2). Destruction of Sin and Curses: sin breeds curses, sin erodes our redemptive dignity in Christ; sin causes fear. Adam sinned and his first statement was I was afraid.

Hear this: curses are real! They are mostly transferred ‘cross-generationally’ – especially due to idol worshipping of our forefathers.

Exodus 20:5, 10 KJV
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; [10] But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Goodnews: through redemption and most especially the death and resurrection of Jesus, all curses – including generational curse – are reversible. Your lineage changes from your biological family into the family of Christ the day you accept and confess our lord Jesus as your personal lord and saviour. You see, you now belong to the family of Christ which is ‘uncursable’

Numbers 23:23 KJV
Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!

What are the qualifications or requirements to become a partaker of benefits/privileges of death & resurrection of Jesus?

(1). New birth
(2). Obedience
(3). Faith

New birth

Before you can be a partaker of the rights and privileges of death and resurrection of Christ, you must first accept and confess Jesus as your personal lord and saviour or incase you have accepted Him before but you have gone back into your old ways. You discovered that your passion for the things of God has been abated or truncated; you need to rededicate your life to Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Obedience

While new birth make you to be a potential partaker of the benefits in Christ, Obedience guarantees your access to your inheritances in Christ. Obedience is the master key to all blessings of God.

Deuteronomy 28:1-3 KJV
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: [2] And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. [3] Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.

Job 36:11 KJV
If they obey and serve him , they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

James 1:25 KJV
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein , he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Faith

Faith is not a waiting, faith is a doing or moving force. Faith is an action, it’s acting inline with what you believe.

Matthew 9:20-22 KJV
And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him , and touched the hem of his garment: [21] For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. [22] But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Faith is dead without work. Faith is not a cheap talk; it’s an hard work.

James 2:20, 22, 26 KJV
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? [22] Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? [26] For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Until your faith is in place don’t expect any package from death and resurrection of Christ.

Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please him : for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

James 1:5-8 KJV
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. [6] But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. [7] For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. [8] A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Faith is your purchasing power in the supernatural market.

Luke 1:45 KJV
And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Finally, Christianity is not theoretical; it’s practical. Let us demonstrate whatsoever we have learnt from this teaching and we shall see the results on every sphere of life.

Father in the name of Jesus, we thank you for the sent word of resurrection. Let whatsoever that is dying in our lives bounds back to life. Thank you Jesus that it’s done. In Jesus precious name we have prayed. Amen‍🙏
